OTM Cattle - 11.03.24
On Monday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their fortnightly sale of 68 OTM Cattle.
A larger consignment of cows was forward with all buyers keen to purchase. The sale topped at 235.5ppk for an OTM Aberdeen Angus from Messrs E A & N Thompson & Son, Bromley Green, purchased by Mr D Barker.
A superb consignment of Limousin cows from first time customers, Messrs T N & J Hall, Ainstable Hall, sold to a top of 227.5ppk for an 8-year-old cow, realising £1744.93. Further heavy cows, weighing 1021kgs, achieved £2281.94 (223.5ppk). The same home sold a 15-year-old Limousin Stock Bull at £2090.96/221.5ppk.
Black & Whites met a firmer trade all round with Messrs J & B Donald & Son, Lamonby selling 993kgs Holstein cows, straight out of the parlour to £1732.79/174.5ppk.
Younger cows achieved £1335.65/221.5ppk from Messrs G & E A Harrison, Mount Clifton, purchased by Mr A Jarvis.
A consignment of pure Jersey Cows from Messrs S D & C Bland, Abbott Lodge, topped at £955.41/159.5ppk, purchased by Mr R Medcalf, Halifax.
Topping the sale overall per head was an 11-year-old Saler Bull from Messrs E J Ivinson & Son, Skelling Farm, realising £2524 (1291kgs/195.5ppk) purchased by Mr D Barker.
