On Friday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their fortnightly sale of 101 Rearing Calves and Stirks forward.
A smaller show was once again met by a strong trade, the sale topped at £810 for a
lovely Limousin bullock from M Tyson, Fox Tower View, with this home also selling a pair of
British Blue heifers to £720.
Messrs RJ & FM Grierson, Musgrave Hall, sold a Belted Galloway Bull to £740. Messrs
Messenger, Howes Farm, sold a pair of 4-month-old British Blue bulls to £690. A serious
demand here in Penrith for these types.
Calves topped at £650 for a cracking British Blue bull from Ellaway, The Elephant.
British Blue heifers, 8-weeks-old, realised £380 from Messrs JP & GJ Simpson, Knock Cross.
Messrs PH Thompson & Partners, Greengill Head, sold a consignment of 12 Aberdeen Angus
bulls to average £291, topping at £350 for a pair.
Mr KJ Burne, High Barn, sold a run of 2-week-old Continental calves to average £210.
