On Monday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their fortnightly sale of 167 Store Cattle.
A smaller offering forward with trade continuing to fly exceeding many vendors expectations. Topping today’s sale at £1835 on two occasions, firstly for a cracking 22-month-old Limousin bullock from Messrs Robinson, Gateghyll and secondly for a Simmental bullock from Messrs J C Thwaites & Co, Thorneycroft.
Heifers topped at £1755 for a strong fleshy heifer from Messrs D & J Errington, Annfield Farm. The same home sold a pen of four 22-month-old Hereford bullocks to £1505. Black and Whites remain popular topping at £1205 from Messrs J W Watson, Whygill Head.
Mr R Dawson, Southwaite Farm sold mostly dairy-bred Aberdeen Angus and Charolais heifers at 23-months-old to average £1540. Messrs K & S J Tyson, Dancing Gate Farm sold a lovely Limousin bullock at eight-months of age to £1175.
Bulls also sold very well topping at £1385 for a 10-month-old Limousin from Mr K J Burrow, Hacra with the run of 4 averaging £1322.50.
