On Monday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their fortnightly sale of 48 OTM Cattle.
Loads of demand for cast cows with larger numbers required to fulfil demand here at every sale. The sale topped at 285.5ppk for a none-farm-assured, 7-year-old British Blue X cow from Messrs Harryman, Keskadale, realising £1952.82, purchased by Mr Owain Llyr, with this consignment averaging 271ppk/£1812.
A superb consignment of well-fed cows from Messrs NL & CJ Brown, Claughton Hall Farm, Lancaster, topped at 271.5ppk/£2375.63, also purchased by Mr Owain Llyr, with others from this home closely following at £2276.43.
OTM Holsteins topped at £1545.14/215.5ppk from Messrs TR & PE Little, Low Moor Dyke, purchased by Mr A Jarvis. Plenty of parlour cows achieving 150-165ppk.
Skirwith Abbey sold Holsteins out of the parlour to £1516.49, with this consignment averaging £1399.24/179ppk.
