On Friday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their fortnightly sale of 170 Rearing Calves and Stirks.
Another good offering of calves and stirks forward to a ring full of buyers keen to purchase. The sale topped at £850 for a Beef Shorthorn heifer from first-time consignor Messrs R & J Taylor, Longmoor Head, with this home also selling a pair of 5-month-old Beef Shorthorn bulls to £720, purchased by Mr J Field.
Messrs JH & E Ivinson, Plumpton Foot, sold a pen of 5 Aberdeen Angus bulls, aged 4-6 months, to £590.
Bull calves topped at £470 for a 14-week-old Aberdeen Angus from Mr C Dent, Bridge End. British Blue heifers topped at £480 from Skirwith Abbey. Black & White calves topped at £420 from Ellaway Ltd, The Elephant.
