On Monday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their fortnightly sale of 69 OTM Cattle.
Another good show of OTM cattle was forward to a slight increase in demand on the fortnight.
The sale topped at 227.5p/kg (£1,465.10) for a forty-month-old Limousin cross cow from Mr K D Harryman, Keskadale selling to Mr Owain Llyr, with this consignment averaging £1407.34 (211p/kg). This price was closely followed at 225.5p/kg (£1,411.63) for a young Montbeliarde cow from Messrs JP & GJ Simpson, Knock Cross bought by Mr W Barker.
A nine-year-old Black & White cow, straight out of the parlour, was sold through the TB exempt section from Skirwith Abbey to realise £1346.28 (171.5p/kg), purchased by Mr L Fell.
A cast British Blue stock bull from Messrs DH & ER Strong, Well House, weighed 943kg and totalled £1739.50 (184.5p/kg), purchased by Mr Owain Llyr.
Demand throughout the sale was very strong with buyers keen to purchase, more numbers are required on a fortnightly basis. Our next sale will be held on Monday 4th December.
