On Friday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their fortnightly sale of 202 Rearing Calves and Stirks.
Another really strong show of cattle was forward with plainer young calves meeting realisation. Quality and strength seen a phenomenal trade, surpassing all vendors’ expectations, with cattle 5 months plus way short of buyers’ requirements many more are needed to fulfil demand.
The sale topped at £1160 for a pen of 3 Aberdeen Angus x stirks, 12-months-old from Messrs A & W Johnston, White Fold, purchased by Claremont Properties, this home also sold a cracking pen of 3 Limousin heifer to £1045, purchased by Mr E Holliday, Clea Mire.
Quality young calves were in short supply, Messrs A & W Johnston, White Fold sold 8-week-old British Blue bulls to £460, purchased by Mr R Graves, with this home also selling British Blue heifers to £440.
