On Monday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their fortnightly sale of 39 OTM Cattle.
A great show of cast cows was forward with demand as strong as ever. The whole sale averaged 199.5ppk, topping at 259.5ppk twice, firstly for a 10-year-old British Blue X Limousin cow, weighing 786kg from Messrs G & JE Bell, Far Broom, realising £2039.67 purchased by Mr D Barker. Secondly for a Limousin from Messrs AJ & FM Harrison, Grange Hall, with this consignment selling to average 258ppk/£1790.
A strong, fast trade was witnessed for Black & White cows, possibly the sharpest ever, topping at 199.5ppk for a 9-year-old British Friesian from Messrs JE & DL Hodgson, Soulby Grange, selling to Mr L Fell. Foreign Danish Red cows, straight from the parlour and in our TB exempt section, topped at £1638.18 for 861kg from Mr W Schug, Bongate Moor. Holstein cows, out the parlour, topped at £1608.60/191.5ppk from Messrs DW Cannon & Son, Low Abbey.
Demand is very strong and more numbers are required on a fortnightly basis to fulfil demand. Our next sale will be held on Monday 19th June.
