On Monday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their fortnightly sale of 47 OTM Cattle.
A very strong trade was witnessed, with all buyers present and keen for stock. All sold to average 198p/kg, topping at 289.5p/kg (£2098.43) for a 735kg Limousin X British Blue cow from Messrs PJ & ES Rogerson, Maisongill, purchased by Jewitt Meat Company. This home also topped the sale at £2191.28 for a 784kg Limousin X cow, selling to Owain Llyr, this consignment of four averaged £2036.97/260p/kg.
All Friesian cows were sold to average £1320.54 (298p/kg). Topping at 248.5p/kg for a thirty-three-month-old heifer from Messrs R Forrest & Son, Low Rutter, purchased by Mr B Howard, with this consignment of 8 selling to average £1426.51. This home also sold a ten-year-old parlour cow to 199.5p/kg (£1625.93), selling to Mr L Fell.
A dairy-bred Aberdeen Angus cow, through our TB exempt section, achieved £1983.13/ 237.5p/kg from Messrs A & S Robley, Nelson Hill Farm.
An Austrian bred Fleckvieh stock bull realised £2022.08/193.5ppk from Messrs R Packham & Sons, Docker Hall.
