Store Cattle 240223
On Monday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their fortnightly sale of 230 Store Cattle of all classes.
Trade was still exceptionally strong for all classes, with an increased interest for grazing types.
Topping today’s sale at £1855 was a cracking twenty-month-old Limousin bullock from Messrs Winter, Clickham Farm. This same home sold another Limousin bullock at £1775. This consignment averaged £1641 for all nine sold.
Heifers topped at £1695 for a Limousin cross from Messrs HG Jackson, Littlebeck.
Native bred cattle sold very well, with Aberdeen Angus bullocks topping at £1625 from TI Wetherall & Son, High & Low Buildings. Aberdeen Angus heifers sold to £1575 from Messrs A & S Robley, Nelson Hill Farm.
Messrs JE Bellas & Son, Croft Ends, sold a meaty Beef Shorthorn heifer to £1505.
Yearling heifers topped at £1425 on two occasions, with both consigned by Messrs CR & H Atkinson, High Howe. One a Limousin cross heifer, and the other a Limousin cross bullock.
All classes of cattle continue to be in high demand and are required for our fortnightly sales. Our next sale will be held on Bank Holiday Monday, 8th May, entries close Noon Tuesday 2nd May.
