On Monday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their fortnightly sale of 67 OTM Cattle.
A sale average of £1259.68 was achieved, topping at £2018.42 (204.5ppk) for a none-farm assured pure Beef Shorthorn, 10-years-old, weighing 987kg from Mr G Guy, Tebay, purchased by Mr D Barker.
Cast bulls averaged £2439.20, topping at £2442.17/225ppk for an 8-year-old pure Limousin from Messrs IR & OM Wilson, Highbeckside, also purchased by Mr D Barker.
Messrs BS & J Strong & Son, Hewer Hill, topped the sale at 268.5ppk for an over-thirty-month-old, dairy-bred British Blue, realising £1729.70.
Black & Whites achieved a very fast trade, definitely the dearest ever witnessed, topping at 192.5ppk for a 7-year-old Holstein from Messrs EA & A Dodd, Roanstress, Newcastleton, realising £1435.90.
Holstein cows topped at 1459.67/175.5ppk for a 10-year-old parlour cow from Messrs R Forrest & Son, Low Rutter, purchased by Mr L Fell.
A superb consignment of dairy-bred Limousin cows from Messrs W & SE Dickinson, Kirkbarrow Hall, topped at £2013.09/228.5ppk for a cow weighing 881kg, purchased by Mr A Jarvis.
