OTM Cattle 120922

On Monday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their fortnightly sale of 75 OTM Cattle.

A marvellous show of cast cows was forward with demand holding well. The whole sale averaged 178ppk, topping at 246.5ppk for a sixty-month-old Limousin cross British Blue cow, fed to perfection from Messrs G & JE Bell, Far Broom, realising £2068.14 purchased by Mr Owain Llyr, this home also sold a nine-year-old Limousin cross cow to £1939.97/231.5ppk purchased by Mr D Barker.

Cast bulls averaged 186ppk, topping at £2302.60/198.5ppk for a ten-year-old Charolais from Messrs AM & PM Bowman & Son, Crindledyke, purchased by Mr Owain Llyr, this was closely followed at £2009.11/209.5ppk for an eight-year-old Limousin from Messrs WE & B Wilson, Undercragg.

A seven-year-old Aberdeen Angus cross Hereford cow, weighing 978kg achieved £1853.31/189.5ppk from Messrs WR & FD Siddle, Honeypot, purchased by Mr B Howard.

Holstein cows, straight out the parlour, held up to recent fast returns with Messrs H & EM Hunter & Son, Berrier, averaging £1377.67/170ppk, topping at £1473.00 for a seventy-month-old cow.

First-time vendors to our cast cow ring Messrs CM & CS Chappelhow, High Grounds, sold a seven-year-old British Friesian to 171.5ppk/£1205.65 purchased by Mr L Fell.
