Today we held our fortnightly sale of 122 Store Cattle. Cattle travelled from as far afield as Aberdeen for this fortnight's sale at Penrith, where the extra miles proved well worthwhile as strong demand continued to drive an excellent trade. With store cattle in short supply and demand continuing to grow, a number of fresh buyers were ringside, helping to produce another outstanding sale. Leading the day's trade was a superb pair of Limousin bullocks from K Norman Farms, Windy Hill Farm, Redcar, North Yorkshire, which sold to a top price of £2,385. This impressive consignment of eighteen store cattle averaged an outstanding £2,126.67. The heifer section was again topped by Mr A J Glendinning, Dacre Banks Farm, with an exceptional two-year-old Charolais heifer realising £2,285. This run of seven heifers averaged a tremendous £2,096. Messrs E Hird, Park Head, sold a pen of four 20-month-old British Blue-cross heifers to £1,955. Messrs J & B Donald & Son, Lamonby Hall, sold a pen of six 16-month-old British Blue cross bullocks to £1,785, while R & J A Nettleton, New Rent Farm, received £1,925 for their 16-month-old Hereford bullocks. With buyers actively seeking more store cattle and supplies remaining tight, Penrith continues to offer a first-class trade. Vendors with cattle to sell are encouraged to take advantage of the current demand and should not hesitate to get in touch with the mart. Our next sale will be held on Monday 3rd August , entries close strictly Noon Monday 27th August. Full report - https://www.penrithauction.com/Portals/0/EasyDNNnews/Uploads/431/SC%20Rep%20200726.pdf
