Today we held our monthly sale of 130 Dairy Cattle.
Another great monthly sale was conducted here at Penrith, although numbers were still a long way short of our buyers’ requirements. More commercial Holstein Friesian heifers are required to fulfil the demand, with many buyers going home empty-handed.
Topping the sale at £3600 was a superb Holstein Friesian heifer, twenty-five days calved giving 30 litres from Messrs DW Cannon & Son, Low Abbey, purchased by Messrs H & EM Hunter & Son, Berrier Head.
One of the best shows of British Friesian cattle that you could find was forward, a credit to all vendors. Messrs J & B Donald & Son, Lamonby Hall realised £3150 for a heifer giving 30 litres going on to be purchased by Messrs RG & W Whitfield, Balladoyle.
Messrs Williamson, Barrowmoor Farm sold 2 perfect British Frisians, one heifer and the other a square, correct in every way third calved cow, both selling for £3000 purchased by Mr WH Brass, Low Row.
Topping the Dairy Shorthorn section was Mr DE Jackson, Firbank, selling Tahuna Donna, a freshly calved light roan heifer to £2400, purchased by Messrs CM & Chappelhow, Clifton Dykes.
A consignment of New Zealand Friesian and Jersey cross heifer stirks attracted plenty of interest with fifty-one 3 to 5-month-olds averaging £494.20 topping at £620 with plenty consistently £500 to £520.
Entries are now invited for our next sale on Friday 29th August, entries close Noon Monday 18th August.
