Today we held our fortnightly sale of 70 OTM Cattle.
Fantastic to see so many vendors returning to the live ring, which is definitely the smart move ensuring competition drives returns way in front of other ways of marketing.
The sale topped at 419.5ppk/£3913.94 for a pure bred, 9-year-old British Blue cow weighing 933kg from M/s J E Bellas & Son, Croft Ends Farm, selling to Mr D Barker.
An 8-year-old Limousin X British Blue cow, weighing 848kg from M/s JW & M Buckle, Bleathgill, achieved £3014.64/355ppk.
Black and Whites were comfortably dearer on the fortnight and many more are required to fulfil the extreme competition in the live ring. Topping at £2573.03/304.5ppk for a 36-month-old Holstien from M/s H & EM Hunter & Son, Berrier, selling to Mr L Fell, this consignment averaged £2280.95/270ppk, with older cows from this home achieving £2408.54 for 939kg.
