Today we held our fortnightly sale of 75 cast cows.
Good numbers came forward in the cast ring with plenty of buyers present ensuring a competitive trade throughout the sale. The sale topped at 333.5ppk for a 49-month-old Limousin X cow, weighing 623kg from Messrs ME & J Fell, Stanger Hill, realising £2077.71, purchased by Mr D Barker. A 70-month-old Limousin feeding cow, from the same home, achieved 325.5ppk/£2031.12 for 624kg, selling to Mr R Bowling.
A much larger offering of parlour cows was forward, with the best Holsteins from Messrs H & EM Hunter & Son, Berrier, topping at £2044.74/258.5ppk, very closely followed at £1944.10/251.5ppk from Mr JR Tiplady, The Bramery, purchased by Mr G Chapman.
OTM Holsteins topped at 288.5ppk from Messrs Sowerby, Townhead Farm, weighing 599kg, realising £1728.12, purchased by Mr L Fell.
The best Normande cows from Mr J Findley, Moorside Farm, achieved £1835.98, weighing 713kg, purchased by Mr S Bowes.
Very few stock bulls were forward and many more could have been sold, topping at £1917.51/241.5ppk for a Longhorn from Lowther Park Farm, selling to Mr D Barker.
