This morning we held our Annual Prize Show & Sale of 740 Suffolk, Texel, Beltex, Charollais and Continental Breeding Rams, generously sponsored by EQ Accountants & Marsh Commercial. The early morning prize show drew much interest with a large number of tups presented forward for judging. The Texel and Continental ram judging was in the capable hands of Mr M Mitchinson, Gallowberry, who awarded first place and the Challenge Trophy, given by the Solway & Tyne Texel Breeders Club to J Winter, Clickham Farm, for his first placed Texel shearling. Suffolks were judged by Mr J Kidd, Briggle Farm, who awarded first place honours in the Ram Lamb class to Mr A Mitchell, Grassknop, this lamb also received the Hughie Rebanks Memorial Trophy.
