On Monday Penrith & District Farmers Mart LLP held their fortnightly sale of 892 Store Lambs. A smaller show of lambs forward with no let off in the trade with a packed ringside of buyers ensuring the whole sale sold to average a staggering £112.22. Topping todays sale at £140 came for a pen of 22 Texel lambs from Messrs J G & L M Kindleysides, Wickerslack. Also achieving £140 came for a pen of 3 Texels from Messrs Coulthard, Fellside. The same home also topped Suffolks at £135 for a pen of 12. Messrs G & H R Shields, Tarn House sold a run of 88 Mule lambs to average £126.50. Hill lambs sold to £81 for 3 from Messrs Marrs, Manor Farm. Many more lambs are needed to fulfil demand here at Penrith, please get in touch. On Monday Penrith & District Farmers' Mart LLP held our fortnightly sale of 188 Store Cattle and Feeding Bulls of all classes. A good entry of store cattle forward again with trade continuing to hold extremely strong. Messrs Wales, Thackwood brought forward an impeccable run of Continental bullocks to top at £2,755 for Charollais at 22 months old, others also sold to £2,695. This homes run of 10 sold to average £2,507. Messrs W K & D Hall, Bells View sold a run of 8 Blue Bullocks to average £2301.25. Topping the heifers today at £2,435 came for a Charollais heifer from Messrs M Ridsdale & Son, Yew Tree Farm. Angus heifers sold to £2,305 for a superb meaty heifer from Messrs I S & C A Mounsey, Town Head. Once again Black & White cattle are in strong demand topping at £2,035 for a 26-month-old from Messrs J D & F Wharton, Town Head Farm.
