On Monday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their fortnightly sale of Prime Cattle. Another good show of prime cattle with plenty of competition around the ring. Topping at £3487.55 went to Messrs W Richardson & Son, Ghyll House with a pure Limousin bull weighing 970kg totalling £3487.15. Younger bulls from Mr D Raine, Old Parks topped at 399.5ppk / £2892.38 for a Limousin x purchased by Mr R Pearson Wholsesale. The same home achieved £2929.92 / 381.5ppk for a bullock selling to R Medcalf, Halifax. More clean cattle and prime bulls are required on a fortnightly basis to fulfil the demand of our regular buyers. Our next sale will be held on Monday 1st December.

On Monday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their fortnightly sale of 80 OTM Cattle. Once again numbers came forward with the ringside busy and plenty of competition, with the whole sale averaging £1782.76. Topping at a hefty £3177.70 / 369ppk for a 5 year old British Blue x Limousin Cow weighing 860kg from Mr A Haygarth, Kelleth Rigg, purchased by Jewitt Meat Company. Messrs R & J M Ridley, Ranbeck sold fed Limousin Cows to £2778.52 / 326.6ppk with their run averaging £2,554.51. Dairy bred British Blue Cows topped at £2225.12 / 295.5ppk from Messrs J J & C E Palmer, Greensyke purchased by Mr D Barker. A much plainer show of Holstein Cows with less meat forward. With many more required to fulfil demand. Topping at £2174.85 went to Messrs Mattocks, Auldby Farm with a 7 year old parlour cow weighing 810kg (268.5ppk). Messrs E & A E Harrison, Woodhead sold their consignment of parlour cows to average £1945.44 topping at £2078.60 with others closely followed at £2013.65. Stock bulls achieved a top of 344.5ppk / £3272.75 for a 6 year old Limousin weighing 950kg’s being purchased by Mr D Holmes. More numbers are required on a fortnightly basis to fulfil the demand required at the ringside. Our next sale will be held on Monday 1st December 2025.

On Monday Penrith & District Farmers Mart LLP held their fortnightly sale of 1198 Store Lambs. Another great entry of lambs were forward, with all classes of stock a storm to sell. Topping the day’s trading at £138 was a single Texel lamb from Wythop Farms. Numerous pens of lambs soared over £120, with a whole sale average of £108.34 being achieved. Suffolk lambs topped at £131 from Mr M P Chambers, Stone Bower. Mule lambs continue to fly, with Messrs Shields, Tarn House, selling a run of 82 big lambs to average £125. Mrs S M Tuer, Grange Farm, sold a pen of 13 Cheviot tup lambs to £122, purchased by Mr T Magnay. Swaledales sold to £80 for two pens, totalling 49 lives. On Monday Penrith & District Farmers' Mart LLP held our fortnightly sale of 207 Store Cattle and Feeding Bulls of all classes. A great show of top end store cattle today here in Penrith, with no let off in trade 3 animals soared over £2,700. Topping the days trading at £2,775 came for a beautiful black Limousin heifer from Messrs M T P & S D Wills, Fawcett Park, purchased by Messrs Elliott, Bank House. Bullocks sold to £2,715 for a 19 month old Limousin x from Messrs R & J M Ridley, Ranbeck purchased by Mr D Barker. Messrs D W & T A Bell, High Dyke also broke the £2,700 barrier selling his bullock for £2,705 again purchased by Mr D Barker. Messrs G & E A Harrison, Mount Clifton sold Angus bullocks to £2,265 for 23 months. Messrs M T P & S D Wills, sold their run of 4 Limousin store cattle to average £2,607.50 with 6 separate consignments selling in excess of £2,200. Messrs R J & F M Grierson, Musgrave Hall sold a run of 15 – 16 month old Dairy bred Hereford heifers to average a staggering £1829.55.
