Today we held our fortnightly sale of 202 calves and stirks.
Another lovely entry of calves and stirks was forward with a fantastic trade throughout, a definite rise on the fortnight and a packed ringside of buyers present.
The sale topped at £1,600 on two occasions, firstly for a beautiful pen of four 13-month-old Limousin X heifers from Messrs W & W Patterson, Coupland Beck and secondly for a lovely 14-month-old Charolais bullock from Messrs Sowerby, Townhead Farm.
Messrs H & EM Hunters & Sons, Cape Farm, sold a beautiful packet of four 12-month-old Charolais heifers to £1535, purchased by Messrs TE Irving & Sons, East Cliff.
Calves were a roaring trade from start to finish, with more needed here to fulfil demand. This section topped at £960 for a brilliant British Blue bull from Turnbull Farming, Monks House. Messrs Connell, Grange Farm, sold a lovely run of Limousin calves to £920 for bulls and topped the heifer section at £880 for a pair, selling 5 to average £886.
A total of 12 Charolais calves from various homes sold to average £854.
FJ & M Mattinson, Rosewain, sold a lovely 8-week-old British Blue bull to £900. First-time calf consignor, Messrs W Williamson, Barrowmoor Farm, sold some excellent Friesian bulls to £770.
