On Wednesday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held the fortnightly sale of 1100 Store Lambs.
Another fast trade was witnessed, with all classes being equally as dear as the last fortnight. Topping the sale at £94 a head was Mr A Graham, Church Farm with a pen of Continental X lambs selling to Mr J Tucker.
Mr J.R Jackson, Scales Hall sold a run of Suffolk, Continental and Mule lambs to average £77.54, topping at £82.
A run of 109 Swaledale lambs from Messrs Frith, Cross Keys averaged a staggering £40. This run topped at £45 a head, selling Mr W Raine.
Mr P.M Smith, Cocklakes sold a run of 90 Suffolk X Mules to average £76.33.
A packed ringside of buyers were forward with many more lambs required to fulfil the demand.
