On Wednesday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their annual “Troutbeck” sale of Swaledale, Bluefaced Leicester, Cheviot, Suffolk & Continental Rams.
The final Breeding Sheep sale of the year was held with quality selling to a sharp trade. Topping the sale at £700 was a Swaledale shearling, with great bone and power, from Messrs W.H Raine, Ravenwood Cottage, selling to Mr C Lowis. 4-shear Swaledales from Messrs M Bindloss & Son, Shap Abbey sold to £550 to Mr C Lowis.
Mr J.M Thompson, Townfoot’s Beltex X Texel shearlings with great skin and shape achieved £550, selling to Mr A Harrison, Grange Hall.
Mr J Hewson, Burgh Head sold Texel ram lambs to £400, purchased by Mr A Jackson, Scales Hall.
