The Durham based Hauxwell dairy shorthorn herd, the property of Messrs Ripley & Ramesar was dispersed was last Friday.
An interesting herd of well bred milky cattle created interest from both pedigree and commercial farmers. A top call of 2060gns was paid for the Light Roan 3rd calver “Newpark Barrington 11th”, Weardale bred by Denis Craig she carries some of the most famous blood lines within the breed. Producing 9565kg and selling for 1950gns was the 22 month old stock bull Oxton Clarity, anet son of the American sire Ecuafarm Kaber Royalty. Clarity joins Dennis Craigs Newpark herd.
Selling for 1450gns was the Penrith bred 2nd calver Tahuna Alice 14, bought on the behalf of Irish interests. Hauxwell Dairy Princess 18th, a new calved heifer sired by Irby Plurocrat sold for 1350gns to join JW Coulthards & Sons Brisco herd from Longtown, Carlisle.
Heifer calves were in particularly good demand topping at 1000gns for the April born Hauxwell Pauline 2nd. She joins A Hattons Northern Dairy Shorthorn herd in N Yorks.
